Create-Your-Own Comic Book Character Contest!
October 10, 2006 -- A little later than promised, but the results are in and we have our winner! A group of impartial judges helped me select the funniest, most creative, and most FUN hero of all to be the leader of The Professionals in this, my first epic story with them. I was impressed by all the entries I received, and I'm sorry they couldn't all win. I'll post more information about all of them in the future but for now... let me introduce you to our winner:
Tofu Man Chu!
In the late 1970's a tree hugging hippie on a quest for inner peace and an east-Asian farmer's daughter found love on a radioactive soy bean farm. The couple's child would grow to be the super-powered Yoga Instructor, Tofu Man Chu! Able to change into the shape of anything (but with slightly worse flavor), Tofu Man Chu telepathically controls all soy products and is an expert in the Bruce Lee martial arts.

Tommy Tsunami!
Tomas Chang was just an everyday Florida surfer boy that dreamed of one day overthrowing Kelly Slater as World Champion. That all changed one day at the pier off Cocoa Beach, when a severe sting from a radioactive jellyfish altered his DNA to give him amazing powers. Current studies have shown that the mutation is a combination of the jellyfish and Tomas' DNA chains. Because of this he is able to command electric current, breathe underwater, and is rumored to be able to speak to marine life through a complex series of muscle movements.

September 12, 2006 -- Welcome to Brand X Creations' FIRST-EVER contest for loyal readers and fans! Beginning today, I'm giving each and every one of YOU the opportunity to see one of your creations come to life on your computer screen (in a static comic-strip kind of way).
Starting October 2, Commander X's favorite comic book heroes, The Professionals, will be appearing in their first full-length, eighteen-part EPIC story! My good friend Jim wrote an amazing start to the story before he passed away; I hope I can do it justice with the ending I've prepared. I'll leave my performance for YOU to judge. For now, there's something I'll be judging...
I need your help. Jim created an entire super-powered PLANET for this story, and the two of us only were able to create enough heroes to populate a City (or two) in the time we had. So I'm asking each of you to create a costumed hero to be a part of this strip. I can't ask you for a favor, though, and not offer something in return! There will be PRIZES for the funniest, coolest, and/or most creative hero I receive. The prizes are as follows:
- The winning hero will appear as the leader of The Professionals in the comic's conclusion!
- The creator of the winning hero will receive an 8.5" by 11" full-color image of their hero printed on glossy photo paper -- signed by ME and suitable for framing!
- Your name and your description of your hero will have a place of prominence at Brand X Creations, including a link to YOUR webpage (if you have one).
Your submission should include the following:
- A sketch or written description of what your character looks like
- A description of the hero's super-power(s)
- A brief history for your character
- ... oh, and your hero will need a NAME!
E-mail your submission with the subject Hero Contest to commanderx@brandxcreations.com. Even if your hero is not selected as the winner, I'll still do everything I can to make him or her a part of the story! So get those submissions in SOON... you may see your creation online shortly thereafter!
This contest ends SEPTEMBER 30, 2006! Let those creative juices flow!
Legal-Type Stuff: All heroes (including their names, likenesses, & descriptions) will become the property of Brand X Creations and Willie Laundrie II. Final decision as to which heroes are used and which are not is entirely up to Brand X Creations staff. Contest open ONLY to residents of the continental United States. Submissions received after September 30, 2006 may not be considered for prizes. The winner will be notified by e-mail on or before October 9, 2006 regarding the selection of their hero and delivery of prize(s). Thanks!
